Back Home Raking Leaves
It has been weeks since my last blog. I’m back in New England where a colorful autumn is giving way to colder times and bare trees. Oh, yes, and a lot of leaf raking, the fall undertaking that connects the neighbors on my street.
While I rake mountains of oak and maple leaves, I often daydream back to Whiterock. Heat, dust, golden light, open space and lots of time to paint. I have posted all 15 paintings from my residency on the homepage of this website. Many of the paintings that were started outdoors (plein air) were completed in my home studio from dozens of photos that I shot on the land.
While some of the originals have already sold, each one is available in a high quality giclée print. I’ll be hanging those in my home to remind me of Iowa. Hope you’ll enjoy them, too.
I am tremendously grateful to Liz Garst, Niki Reynolds and so many other people at Whiterock and in Coon Rapids for the opportunity to be a part of your community through the artist residency.
